Vocational Education and Training 4.0 – initial and continuing training in the digital age

Increasing digitalisation of the world of work is creating a wide range of challenges for the vocational education and training system. Digitalisation is bringing about a shift in technologies, products, work processes, business models and ultimately in the tasks performed by skilled workers and is also helping to accelerate the pace of change. The focus for vocational education and training extends beyond different skills needs and the further development of occupations to include questions as to the way in which training should be structured in future and aspects such as training for education and training staff, suitable forms of teaching and learning, the use of digital media, modernisation of the concept of the regulated occupation, the relationship between VET and academic education, the development of the quantitative skilled worker requirement and finally also the future significance of Vocational Education and Training 4.0.

This forum will look at the how this transformation process is being shaped. Effects being exerted on the (vocational) education system by digitalisation and possible options to enhance the attractiveness of vocational education and training will both forms objects of discussion. Research results and specific examples from practice will be presented in various formats and opened up for debate.
