Forum VI

Healthcare and nursing: perspectives for vocational education and training

The Nursing Act has introduced a new and generalist form of nursing training. This will enable those who complete it to work in all areas of care, including general nursing, paediatric nursing and geriatric nursing. The new training programmes will begin in 2020. The forum will start with a keynote address on the future of nursing and on the growing significance of this field of employment in terms of implementing the new nursing training. This will be backed up with specific examples from practice.

The healthcare professions are being subjected to considerable change and are becoming increasingly important. The influence exerted by digital technologies on organisational processes and on interaction of skilled workers with customers is also rising within this occupational field. On the second day, an introductory presentation on continuing training approaches in this area of employment will serve as the basis for a presentation of selected examples from practice relating to digitalisation in the healthcare professions. The forum will conclude with a podium debate, during which current and future challenges and perspectives for vocational training in the healthcare and nursing sector will be discussed.
